Sbaiti & Company helps secure multimillion dollar settlement in a class action lawsuit against American Airlines

Partners, Mazin Sbaiti and Kevin Colquitt, along with Associate, Griffin Rubin, were named as counsel in Law360’s article about the latest American Airlines settlement. Sbaiti & Company was brought into the matter in July to assist with trial. One month later, the matter was settled.

The lawsuit alleged that American Airlines promised no cost for checked bags but neglected to uphold that agreement. The settlement says that American Airlines will pay, 100% of damages to all claimants. The case is filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas as Katherine M. Cleary et al. v. American Airlines Inc., Case No. 4:21-cv-00184. The settling class may include people that are guaranteed their refunds with no cap on the amount of funds American Airlines will pay.
