Why are More Lawyers Entering the Field

According the ABA, the population of active lawyers in America (members of a state bar) grew 2% from 2012 to 2013. Texas went from 80,657 to 82,607. Texas is the third largest lawyer population after New York (166,317) and California (163,163). Of course, we have to take some of these numbers in the right context–they don’t say who is practicing, and they don’t eliminate people with multiple state bar admissions (like me for example).
